On June 16, 2009, Answers for Autism presented a check for $15,000.00, to Project Lifesaver Indianapolis. With this donation, Project Lifesaver Indianapolis was able to purchase transmitters for individuals on the autism spectrum in Marion and Hamilton Counties. They were also able to purchase 5 receivers. Project Lifesaver is a program for individuals on the autism spectrum that have a history of wandering. The individual will wear a transmitter that looks like a bracelet and if he/she has wandered off, then First Responders are called and they will locate the individual by using the receiver. The receiver picks up on the signal inside the transmitter. The normal find time is between 20 to 30 minutes. Project Lifesaver is a great program and gives care takers a piece of mind.
